On Saturday, March 14, 2026, sisters across the Kingston, Jamaica Stake gathered at the Spanish Town Chapel for the worldwide Relief Society anniversary celebration. More than two hundred sisters attended, coming together to view the special presentation from the Relief Society General Presidency and to interact with one another through uplifting activities.

The program included heartfelt testimonies from sisters across wards and branches. A lively trivia game on the history of the Relief Society and inspiring counsel from President Nelson. He has always spoken of the vital role of women in the Lord’s work, reminding the women of the church that their contributions are essential to building the kingdom of God and strengthening families and communities.

During the celebration, Sister Shauna Thompson, Kingston, Jamaica Stake Relief Society President, gave heartfelt counsel about the importance of ministering. She urged sisters to begin if they have not yet started, saying:

“If you have not done your ministering, please start doing it. Be the Saviour’s hands and feet? Ministering is not easy; it takes us out of our comfort zone, but it brings joy and helps us carry out the Lord’s mandate. Even a phone call can be ministering. More importantly, get to know the sisters you are assigned, their needs, their struggles, and their joys. Service brings blessings, and when we minister, our own burdens become lighter.”

Her words reminded us that ministering is not simply a program but a sacred duty to Heavenly Father. As Sister Thompson testified, true sacrifice in service brings joy, strengthens faith, and allows us to walk with Jesus Christ.

President Vaughn Pinnock, Kingston, Jamaica Stake President, also shared a deeply personal message. Reflecting on the life of his late mother, a devoted educator who spent 25 years teaching and ended her career as a school principal, he testified that her passing softened his heart and led him to embrace the gospel. He reminded sisters that true worth is not measured by social media likes or funeral attendance, but by the eternal influence we have on our families and those we serve. He emphasised that motherhood is not limited to biological children; every woman who nurtures, uplifts, and teaches others fulfils a divine role.

“Sisters, the process of becoming like God requires sacrifice. As you minister and serve, you are building eternal lives. This is divine work, and it will bless generations to come.”

This worldwide celebration gave sisters in Jamaica the opportunity not only to learn and reflect but also to strengthen bonds of unity and recommit to the sacred work of ministering. As we look to the future, the Relief Society in Jamaica will continue to build on its legacy of service, faith, and sisterhood, ensuring that every woman feels the love of the Lord through the care of her sisters.
