On May 23rd every year in Jamaica, Labour Day gives Jamaicans an opportunity to take part in community and public improvement projects focusing on a particular theme. The month of May also happens to be Child’s Month in Jamaica which is coordinated through the Ministry of Education. To commemorate Labour Day 2019, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kingston and Westmoreland participated in different activities.

"Child Safety…Encourage, Enable, Include Me" was the theme for Labour Day that came from the Ministry of Health (MOH) which supported the focus on children from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MOEYI).

Fourteen members of the Constant Spring Ward went to the Annie Dawson Children’s Home for girls. The home got a painting facelift; making the space of the thirty girls living there fresher, cleaner and more attractive.

In Westmoreland, members of the Church visited two locations – the Infirmary and the home of a senior citizen. Fruit trees and vegetables were planted at the Infirmary. The foundation for a new home was prepared for the 85 year old, Ms. Velora at the other location.
